Awakening 2010

Awakening – 50 days Eucharistic Adoration in UK

The Jesus Youth of UK have initiated a 50 days round the clock Eucharistic Adoration ‘Awakening’ at Mother of God Church, Leicester. This is a joint initiative of the Mother of God Parish and the Jesus Youth.

We thought that this is the time to respond to the call of our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI to give particular attention to the Eucharistic Adoration. We are all very well aware of the challenges faced by the Catholic Church today and spending time with the Lord is the best solution we could find. We have been blessed by the Lord to organize similar perpetual adoration from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday at Centro San Lorenzo, the International Youth Centre at Vatican. This Adoration was a huge success as people traveled from different countries of Europe to spend time with the Lord.

The following will be main focus on our intercession.
  • Intentions of the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI
  • Priests and the vocation of priesthood
  • The Church in UK and Ireland
  • Papal visit to UK
  • The re-evangelisation of UK and Europe
  • For all the parishes in the diocese of Nottingham
  • For the sanctification of Jesus Youth movement
Jesus Youth movement is celebrating its silver jubilee this year and we thought as a catholic youth movement, we need to respond to the call of the mother church in this particular juncture.

We would be highly delighted to have you with us during these days.

General information

Venue: Mother of God, RC Church, Greencoat Road, Leicester, LE3 6NZ

The basic structure for these 50 days: The day will be divided into four different time slots, 06.00am - 12.00pm, 12.00pm - 05.00pm, 05.00pm - 10.00pm and 10.00pm - 06.00am. There will be a minimum of three people at a time for the adoration. There will be rotation of people for the different time slots, which means, if a group of three people are sitting for adoration from 06.00am-12.00pm, then for the next slot (12.00pm - 05.00pm) there will be a different group of three people sitting. Each group of three people will get 2 slots to sit across a day. So a total of 6 people are needed for each day. This will ensure enough time of rest for people participating in this prayer campaign. We request the support from other communities and catholic youth movements in UK would for this initiative through your presence.
